“This marital tradition is definitely wrong. The boy should be capable of earning and getting all the things he wants without having to ask his in-laws for dowry.”

What are your views on the idea of ‘the big fat Indian wedding’? Do you think it is necessary? Why/why not?

I like the idea. Everyone wants their wedding to be good.

Do you think the practice of dowry has increased as compared to your parent’s time? Or has it reduced?

“If you take dowry, the honour and position of your family actually reduces. The practise of dowry is wrong, and that is why I feel one’s position would go down by demanding it.”

“Yes, my parents would agree with this decision. I feel that their thinking is such that they themselves would not want me to take dowry.”

What are your views on the idea of ‘the big fat Indian wedding’? Do you think it is necessary? Why/why not?

It is better to have a normal wedding. According to me, these days, weddings are all about pomp and show. It involves a lot of wastage in terms of money and food.
